The "Judge Article of the Year" is a yearly contest to determine the best written/most liked/most useful article written by a Judge for other Judges of each year. The voting process was changed from year to year, currently there are preliminary votes in different categories (only Level 3+ judges are eligible to vote) and the category winners are pitted against each other in a vote (open for all Level 1+ judges) on DCIX.

Judge Article of the Year 2015

Voting mechanism

There's a voting for each month's article on DCIX open to everyone who is a Level 1+ judge (which is about 6000 people). The voting functionality there has the limitation of a maximum of five answers, therefore months with more than five articles are split into parts. Each voting is running for two weeks, preferrably from the first to the third week of the following month. Should there be only a single (non-report) article (or none) in a month then there's a winner by default or even none. For the pre-final voting the winners will be seeded according to the number of votes they reached into pools and the winner of each pool will advance to the final voting.

Judge Article of the Year 2014

Voting mechanism

There's a voting for each month's article on DCIX open to everyone who is a Level 1+ judge (which is about 6000 people). The voting functionality there has the limitation of a maximum of five answers, therefore months with more than five articles are split into two. Each voting is running for two weeks, preferrably from the first to the third week of the following month. Because of the exclusion of the report category (see below) there were some months where there was only a single article - this was declared winner by default. For the pre-final voting the 14 winners were seeded according to the number of votes they reached into four pools and the winner of each pool will advance to the final voting.

Change of rules for 2nd half of 2014

Because of a project that encouraged judges to write and post tournament reports there was a huge surge of articles of this type starting in July. In order to keep the voting manageable from July 2014 on reports were excluded from the competition.
